There are manyfor different styles, bodies and events. Women can choose to wear a party, a cocktail, an evening or even a peplum dress. It is important to know how to distinguish these different styles from one another in order to choose the best fit for you!
Figure it out
Different body shapes call for different garments. A woman with an hourglass body should pick an outfit which accentuates the waist, while a woman who has a petite figure should one with simple lines. If you have an apple-shaped body, this means that you are bust is larger than your hips and legs. This specific case calls for a deep V-neck. If you’re hips are very wide and you are pear-shape, the perfect choice will be clothed with many details in the vast region. The Peplum style is perfect when adding volume to smaller figures.
can differ according to the time of the day. In order to make a great choice you must know what kind of function you are attending. If you are going to a party in a garden during the day, for example, it is appropriate to wear a light colored short gown, so that you do not feel too formal compared to other guests. The same rule applies if you are going to a wedding during the day. You shouldn’t be too formal.
Attending an office party means the wardrobe selected cannot reveal too much skin and should look professional. Usually the length should be increased according to how late it is. This also goes for the amount of accessories or embellishments used. For example, evening wear can be of stronger colors and use fancier materials such as sequin and glitter.
If you are headed to a cocktail party, you should be wearing cocktail attire. It’s considered to be semi-formal attire. Usually it’s length is around the knee. A simple black frock (LBD) is perfect for an occasion such as this one. Adornments such as lace or sequin are allowed and recommended. One of the most well-known cocktail wear was designed by Christian Dior during the late 1940’s. Although cocktail parties are usually at night, this doesn’t mean evening clothes should be used.
Embrace the Waist
The peplum gives a dramatic look by accentuating the waist. The peplum dates back to fashion statements of ancient Greece. A peplum usually has fabric, shaped like a tutu, around your body. A huge trend in the spring/summer collections of 2013, this look gives the illusion that you are wearing a two-pieced outfit, because of the division present on the waist. You can wear it to a cocktail or even to a formal celebration, depending on the fabric and color. If formal enough, the peplum can definitely make a stunning evening look.
Whichever assemble you choose to wear, make sure you pick appropriately and according to the shape of your body. Also try to gather as much information as you can regard the type of event or function you are attending, so that you pick accordingly. Yves Saint Laurent stated that “what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it”, so, don’t forget that whichever the attire, your attitude is the most important part of the outfit.
