When you’re working to lose a certain amount of weight, you need to take notes on how many calories you consume. It’s equally essential to take note of how much energy you’re putting out through exercise. Losing weight can easily feel like it’s equivalent to tap dancing on a tightrope. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be. Implement these tips to help you lose weight and maintain your sanity at the same time.

1. Fruit
Though many people might say that fruits are filled with sugar and that you should stay away from them, don’t do that. Instead, embrace fruit. Fruits like mangos, strawberries and apples are filled with their own nutrients and vitamins. Yes, you shouldn’t make it a habit of bingeing on fruit. However, don’t avoid it.

2. Vegetables
Make sis that two-thirds of your plate are comprised of vegetables. Steam broccoli, spinach or bok choy. Sautee kale with onions. Sweet potatoes are excellent sources of vitamins and nutrients. Make a delectable salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, purple onions and avocados. To cut down on calories with salad dressing, make your own. Use fresh lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and a dash of salt and pepper. If you’d like to add more flavor, consider infusing fresh garlic and a couple teaspoons of balsamic vinegar. Have fun and experiment with the way you cook vegetables. Consider trying roasted carrots. Drizzle truffle oil, salt and fresh parsley on the carrots and put them in the oven to roast. Once you’ve taken them out of the oven, add a bit of crushed feta cheese on top. This flavorful combination will leave you feeling as though you’ve indulged when really, you’ve eaten vegetables.

3. Nuts, Grains, Seeds
Nuts are satiating and are packed with lots of nutrition. In the morning, enjoy a whole grain piece of toast with peanut butter and a banana. The fiber, potassium and healthy fats in this combination are enough to fuel you as begin the day. Chia seeds have been inducted into the sacred superfood family. Chia seeds are also great for helping maintain fullness. Add a few tablespoons to a green smoothie and it’ll keep you full for hours.
