While it can be a bit too much to wear a full face of makeup at the gym, there are still some beauty and hygiene tips that you can use to make your next workout a bit more glam. Here are the best tips for staying fresh, glowing and gorgeous during your next workout.

Prep and Protect Your Skin

Before you work out, you should always prep and protect your skin. This means that you start out with a clean canvass and use a product that will protect your skin from the sun. You should always cleanse your face before you hit the gym or the hiking path. When you sweat, your pores expand, which means it’s easier for any dirt or grime on your face to get inside your pores and cause blemishes.

When it comes to protecting your skin from the sun, this is non-negotiable. Use a product that contains an SPF of 30 or higher. Even if you like the look of a tan, excessive sun exposure can cause serious problems down the road.

Choose Your Cosmetics Wisely

You don’t want to be the girl at the gym who’s wearing a full face of makeup. Not only does this look ridiculous, but it can seriously clog your pores. You should feel comfortable going bare-faced when you exercise, no matter what your complexion looks like. We all want to smell good, even when we’re in the middle of a strenuous workout. However, overpowering colognes or perfumes can be really offensive to our fellow gym patrons. Ditch your concentrated fragrance and instead opt for a lightly scented antiperspirant. This will ensure that you stay fresh and have a light scent without offending the people around you. If you feel like you need a little extra dose of fragrance, you can apply a scented body lotion, but be sure to choose a formula that’s light and inoffensive.
